We design and write Insprave with girls ages 11 - 16 in mind. With that said, we’ve gotten feedback that for savvy young readers, it could be appropriate for ages as young as 8.

We focus on both fun and valuable content (the stuff we should have learned in school but never did) and give girls the tools to be empowered changemakers. Topics like financial literacy, mental health tools (ft. licensed experts), career interviews and then, of course, the fun stuff like fashion and puzzles. All in a modern and cool design. We want teach girls how to think, not what to think. We cover topics you can have conversations about with your girls and go deeper if you want, or just know you are giving them quality content while you take time to do you.

For this first year of publication, we will publish quarterly. Once we gain momentum with your support, we are aiming to publish bi-monthly (6x/year).

We are three former coworkers who have always lamented the content pushed to young girls and decided to finally do something about it. We wanted to give parents an option they could feel good about and that their kids would also be excited about. Historically girls magazines focused on "how to get a flat stomach" and "how to get the boy to text you back," all things that inherently reinforced insecurity and external validation. Times have changed, and we think the content consumed by the next generation should too. Today, with teen girls experiencing record levels of depression and suicide, providing them with tools and content to instill self-confidence and feelings of connectedness is more important than ever. As Moms ourselves, we wanted to create quality content that we’d feel good about our own kids consuming.

We wanted to come up with a unique name that was ours and ours alone – a new name to give meaning to (instead of taking a word that already has meaning). Insprave evokes resilience, empowerment, and inspiration that we hope to help develop in young girls.
